Introduction to Capitalism Studies

An overview of the history and development of capitalism, since its rise and proliferation across the globe, with special attention to the last 300 years. The how and why capitalism changed during these centuries and the impacts of these changes on global society are explored. Students develop a richer understanding of the complex web of causal forces that link the economy, society, and culture. Emphasis is placed that capitalism is not natural or trans-historical, but rather is a social process, with a history of change over time.
