GEOG 2120

Geographic Information Systems: Survey of Applications and Techniques

Fundamentals of GIS technology and how it is being applied in such diverse fields as planning, marketing, criminal justice, political science, and engineering. Students will learn how to collect, organize, analyze, and display spatial data obtained from sources such as address geocoding, GPS, and WWW sites. Each student will complete a series of lab exercises that illustrate the typical steps in a GIS project. Three lecture hours, one two-hour lab per week.
