GEOG 4140

Geographic Information Techniques for Community Planning

Focuses on the connection between community planning and geographic information techniques under the general framework of planning support systems (PSS). It is designed to help students develop knowledge, skills, and experience in: (1) municipal geographic database handling; (2) land suitability and feasibility assessment; (3) landscape aesthetics assessment; (4) sketch planning; and (5) systematic approaches to planning. A real work project from the Charlotte region is conducted. A two-hour lab is required.

GEOG 3120 - Fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems
