American Lives

Exploration of facets of American life through the personal writings of ordinary and famous persons. Students analyze and discuss ways in which historical forces shaped peoples lives and the ways in which they interpreted those historical transformations by means of autobiographies and diaries. Case studies may be selected by era or event.
